We proudly offer American Red Cross swimming lessons to individuals of all ages to help them learn, build and improve their swimming skills. Classes are offered for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school aged children.

Class Descriptions
Parent Child 1
(6 months - 18 months) This class for parent and child is designed to teach parents how to work safely and effectively with their infants to provide a safe environment so that he/she can develop water adjustment skills and have fun in the water.

Parent Child 2 (18 months - 3 years) The purpose of this class is to reinforce skills learned in the prior level and progress to more advanced skills that are age appropriate for a toddler. As for this level, parent and child will be working together in the water.

Preschool 1 (4 & 5 year olds) This class will orient children to the aquatic environment and introduce basic water skills.

Preschool 2 (4 & 5 year olds) The purpose of this class is to help children gain greater independence in their skills and develop more comfort in and around water.

Preschool 3 (4 & 5 year olds) Children will gain basic swimming propulsive skills to be comfortable in the water.

Level 1 (age 6 & up) Basic water skills will be taught in order to help the child develop for confidence and comfort while in the water.

Level 2 Students continue to build on basic water skills while learning more advanced fundamental skills.

Level 3 This course builds in the skills learned in the prior level through additional guided practice.

Level 4 Students will develop confidence in the skills learned and improve other aquatic skills.

Level 5 This course provides further coordination and refinement of all 6 strokes.

Level 6 Students will refine all 6 strokes in order to swim them with greater ease, power and efficiency over longer distances. The focus of this level will be on personal water safety and how to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.

GuardStart This course is a great first step toward possible employment as a lifeguard. This course includes lessons to develop aquatic knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course upon turning 15 years old. The GuardStart program does not give participants the information and skills needed to be certified in First Aid, CPR/AED or as a lifeguard.

Semi-Private/Private Swimming Lessons
Private swimming lessons are recommended for students who are having difficulty mastering a skill(s) or who want to progress faster than normal. Please note: The person requesting the private lesson may choose the instructor. We attempt to honor all requests. If no request is made, an instructor will be assigned.
