Connect/Disconnect Utility Services

Connecting utilities:
All transactions must be conducted through our office at 100 Downtown Plaza, Fairmont, phone number 507-238-9461. A 24 hour notification of move in/out date is required.

The utility bills are mailed by the 10th of every month and are due by the 25th of the same month. A penalty is assessed to the account if payment is received after the due date. When the 25th falls on a weekend or holiday the due date is the following business day.

New customer:
All new utility customers must complete an application and provide a photo i.d. regardless of ownership/renter status.

Utility Deposits:
We require a utility deposit from renters and people who are buying a property contract for deed. The deposit plus any unpaid bills must be paid before utilities will be transferred into the customer’s name.

A homeowner is not required to pay a deposit unless they have bad credit with us and/or have a past due bill that has remained unpaid for 1 year or more. The deposit plus any unpaid bills must be paid before utilities will be transferred into the customer’s name.

The deposit is refundable. The deposit will be applied to the customer’s account after one year of prompt payments. If the customer moves out of town, the deposit is applied to the final bill and any remaining deposit is returned to the customer.

We will accept cash, check, credit or debit card for any transaction. However, checks may not be presented for payment if utilities have been disconnected for non-payment of bill.

Transferring utilities from one location in Fairmont to another:
There is no charge for transferring utilities from one location in Fairmont to another. However, all bills must be paid in full before transfer can occur.

Reconnecting/Disconnecting utilities:
The charge to reconnect or disconnect utilities is $60.00 and must be paid before the reconnection or disconnection will occur.
