Fairmont Public Utilities Steam Heat Department The City of Fairmont operates a steam district heating system in the downtown area with approximately 4 miles of steam lines. There are 185 steam customers currently connected to the system. Steam is provided by a 350 hp and a 800 hp low pressure package boilers. The system is operated out of the municipal power plant.
