We are looking for motivated individuals with strong leadership skills and a positive attitude. This is an opportunity for you to be heard and turn your ideas for the community into reality. Please review our brochure information and learn more about our mission, our projects, and how the voices of the youth and adults working together can make a difference in the City of Fairmont.

Fairmont Area Youth Council – Mission

 

The Fairmont Area Youth Council provides members with leadership opportunities, knowledge of local government procedures, and a hands-on experience in making a difference throughout the community.

 

The Fairmont Area Youth Council will…

 

· give youth a political voice by participating in our city government.

          The FAYC will be a liaison between youth and the Fairmont City Council.

 

· provide social activities that are safe and fun for youth in the community.

          The FAYC will host dances and other events for the youth to enjoy.

 

· collaborate with organizations to promote positive youth involvement in our community.

          The FAYC will work with groups to implement youth leadership opportunities.

 

 

Fairmont Area Youth Council – Structure

 

Ö The Fairmont Area Youth Council will meet at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month. The meetings will take place at Fairmont City Hall.

 

Ö The meetings will last approximately 1 hour. Every member is expected to attend.

 

Ö  The bi-monthly meetings will be led by the youth.

 

Ö The council will consist of 15 members in grades 7-12.

 

Ö Members of the Youth Council will be chosen by a selection committee after careful review of all applications received.
