Fairmont Area Youth Council Agenda

October 11, 2004 @ 7:00 p.m.

1. Call to Order

- Regular meeting of the Fairmont Area Youth Council held on Monday, October 11, 2004 at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. in the Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers.

2. Roll Call of Members Present

3. Reading of the Minutes – Kimbra

- Motion to pass the minutes from the October 4, 2004 meeting

4. Old Business

- City Council, Boards, & Commissions

- Has anyone received any information from the organization they chose to sit on? Comments from the meetings?

- FAYC Committees

- The council decided to form committees. Explain what work is involved, the purpose of forming committees, etc.

5. New Business

- Adopt-A-Highway

- Please see the attached information. Betsy will also report her findings.

- Service Projects – Kendra & Tom report their findings and additional information

- Lakeview Methodist Home Door Decorations

* We will begin making the door decorations during/after this meeting. We will continue making them at the next meeting on October 18, 2004.

- Stepping Stones Learning Center/Day Care

* We will perform the play on October 18. The play starts at 3:30 so be there before 3:15. The play will last until 4:00.

- Yard Raking

* The council will rake leaves on October 23 from 2:30 – 4:30. More information will be given the week of the leaf raking.

- Survey – Jon report on how the survey is coming

- Any questions we would like to add?

- Memberships – Kimbra & Tyler

- Any ideas on obtaining additional members? – open discussion

- Funding/Youth Activity – Betsy & FAYC members

- When would the council like to hold another youth activity? – open discussion

- Should we try to send out letters to organizations/businesses informing them of our upcoming activity so funds can be set aside and we can contact them as the date approaches the activity?

6. Other Business

- City Administrator Jim Zarling will be coming to a youth council meeting sometime in October/November to discuss the city budget and how the youth council fits into it.

- MCW Lyceum??? Tomorrow, Tuesday October 12, 2004 @ Sherburn School. The FAYC will present information at 10:55. Anyone interested in attending with Jon??? (brochures, flyers, applications, etc)
