Fairmont Area Youth Council Agenda

1. Call to Order

- Regular meeting of the Fairmont Area Youth Council held on Monday, October 4, 2004 at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. in the Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers.

 

2. Roll Call of Members Present

 

3. Reading of the Minutes – Kimbra

            - Motion to pass the minutes from the September 27, 2004 meeting

 

4. Old Business

- City Council, Boards, & Commissions

            - Information has been given to the organization(s) you chose to sit on. Has anyone received information from their organization? Has anyone gone to a meeting yet? Any comments about the topics discussed?

 

5. New Business

- Service Projects

- Lakeview Methodist Home would like us to make door decorations for the residents. They need to be turned in, at the latest, at the end of October/beginning of November.

- Anyone have any ideas on what to make? – open discussion

            - When should we start this project? – open discussion
- Stepping Stones Learning Center/Day Care would like us to perform a puppet play for the kids. The dates available to choose from are: October 18, October 25, November 8, or November 15. It would be right after school – approximately from 3:30 to 4:00.

- Please choose a date – open discussion

- Would the FAYC like to rake leaves for community members on one or more of the Saturdays beginning October 23 and ending November 13? Interested in a couple of hours in the morning?open discussion                            

- Survey

            - Did everyone bring their 5 questions – go around the room and read the questions.

- Schools and the survey!!!! What council members would like to be in charge of getting approval for the survey? – open discussion

            - Schools to get approval from include FHS, MCW, Truman, Martin Luther, St. Paul’s, etc.

- Memberships

            - Any ideas on obtaining additional members? – open discussion

- Youth Activity

            - When would the council like to hold another youth activity? – open discussion

            - When do you want to start the planning process? – open discussion

            -Should we have committees? – open discussion

- Committees

            -Should the youth council have committees for fundraising/funding, volunteer projects, activities, recruiting, etc? The groups would then be in charge of setting up activities and presenting them to the council – open discussion

 

6. Other Business

            - City Administrator Jim Zarling will be coming to a youth council meeting sometime in October/November to discuss the city budget and how the youth council fits into it.
