** A reminder to Jon and Kimbra that they will be speaking at

** Each council member
was to write a mock article on the Fairmont Area Youth Council, our upcoming
activities, mission, etc. You could go around the room and have each person
read what they wrote. A decision will need to be made on how this information
is going to be compiled, who is going to do it/be incharge
of it, and when it will be completed and turned into the Sentinel. It needs to
go through approval process/be filed with Betsy first.

** We decided that we
would aim to gain 5 additional active members before the summer – how is
recruitment coming? Brainstorm some other ways to recruit people.
- Funding/Youth Activity

** Our youth activity is
scheduled for Friday, March 18 from

** See if Justa was able to make the necessary contacts to reserve
the facility. Did she also find out about the youth council selling food at the
Knights? What is the rental charge?

** This is where you
announce the information about the DJ and if one has been scheduled

- Chaperones
** It was approved at the
Feb 7 meeting that each council member was to bring the names of 5 potential
chaperones to this meeting. You can go around the room and have them list the
names of 5 people. State to the council that we need to be
seeking chaperones ASAP with only 25 days till the council’s big event.
How are we going to handle this? Who is going to do the asking? Who is going to
ask who? Who will send the chaperones reminders?
- Advertising
**Idea: Ask each council
member to make a list of the different means of advertising for this dance. Go
around the room and ask each council member to state the means this
listed? Ask the council as a whole, what
means they would like to do. They decided who is going to create the posters,
flyers, radio announcements, etc. If need be state that Betsy can e-mail them
some samples, but they are responsible for creating these
posters/flyers/announcements, etc. If no one volunteers, you can appoint
someone. Also, state that the poster, once completed need to be e-mailed to
Betsy for approval and to file. Remember that I have on file the posters from
the last two dances, they can be used as a guide, but
should not be copied!!!
** You will also need to
state that we received money from area businesses and a sign needs to be made
with the individuals/business names on it thanking them for their support. Who
is going to make that? Also, these businesses need to be thanked? Who is going
to write the thank you notes. Signed
by each council member. I will see that the information gets published
in the Sentinel after our activity.

- Justa – update on City
Council meeting on Feb.14
** Ask Justa to provide a quick update on the City Council
meeting. How was it, what was discussed, any items that Jon & Kimbra need to be aware of for the next meeting?
- Jon & Kimbra will
represent the youth council at the city council meeting on Feb. 28

* I guess, if the council would like,
could set-up something for an interview with some of the council members and
they could share information about the FAYC. I suggest that if this is passed.
Set up a date and schedule some times to practice with questions and answers.
This is going to be aired live. Someone from the council will need to set this
up. I have the contact information.

-FAYF Grant & FMC Grant/TB
** We can discuss this
before the meeting. Each council member should look at the grants and see what
their thoughts are. If they are not going to do this/agree with the grant – it
should not be sent in. Also the teambuilding/youth council day could be brought
up.
** Meeting schedule for
March
Kendra, I have also spoken to a couple of people
regarding a team building activity. What are your thoughts on this? When would
you like to do it? Maybe having something locally for our group is the way to
go with everyone’s busy schedules. This too could be discussed before the next
meeting.
