1. Call to Order

- Regular meeting of the Fairmont Area Youth Council held on Monday, March 1, 2004 at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

4. Old Business

- Dance

· DJ – The council agreed on Stage 1 Sound to DJ the dance. He has been contacted and the contract has been filled out and sent in.

·Pizza Hut will be providing pizza and the warmers or bags if we would like. Pizza Hut has been contacted and know that they will be our provider.

- Upcoming event

· Date: Saturday, April 3, 2004

· Location: Fairmont Opera House

5. New Business

- Healthy Youth Committee

 The Healthy Youth Committee is seeking a FAYC representative to attend an upcoming meeting.

The meeting date(s) are: March 23/30 at 6:30 p.m. at Jake’s Pizza. Check your schedule and let Betsy know if you are interested. Thanks!!

- T-Shirts

· Let’s get this wrapped up tonight. We need to get the shirts ordered soon, so that we can wear them to school and at the dance.

· Jon’s findings

· Logos – color shirt – long-sleeved and black

· Vote tonight!!

- Upcoming event

 Chaperones/Security

· Chaperones – Names of potential chaperones from each council member. Have the council

agree on number and names of chaperones?

· When will we ask our chaperones?

 DJ

· Is there any special group activities we would like the DJ to do? Limbo, Chicken dance, etc.

 Pop/Water

· Hy-Vee water and Pop

· How much pop is needed?

· What kinds of pop – Pepsi products?

· How much water is needed?

· Hy-Vee will take back full cases of pop (6 in a pack) and water (24 in a pack)

 Popcorn & Machine

· Would we like to purchase popcorn and flavoring from the bank?

· They have bags for us to use.

 Movie

· When do we want to decide on potential movies?

· We could decide at a date closer to the dance. Maybe sometime new/different will be out.

 Advertising/Posters/Decorations

· What information would you like sent out to the area schools? Posters and what not have been approved by the area schools. What about putting something on everyone’s locker? Any one want to call the school?

· Suckers – When should we get these put together? How many are needed?

· Radio – What stations?

· Local Television Station? School TV Station?

· When would we like to start getting signs, posters, decorations, etc. made?

 Door Prizes

· Mall certificates – Kendra

· Movie tickets – Jon

· Valley Fair/Camp Snoopy Tickets – would you like to purchase them? Betsy can get a deal on them, but we need to decide on this soon.

 Will we need to start holding meetings more often in order to prepare for dance? When/How often/Etc?

7. Next Meeting Dates

 Should a meeting, a shorter, meeting be held next week so everything is not crammed into the next several meetings that we will be having?
