Fairmont Area Youth Council Agenda

1. Call to Order

- Regular meeting of the Fairmont Area Youth Council held on Monday, March 8, 2004 at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

4. Old Business

- Healthy Youth Committee

            · Jon stated that he would be the representative from the FAYC at one of the Healthy Youth Committee meetings.

- Dance

            · DJ – The DJ was contacted. Betsy stated that the council would like, at the maximum, 2-4 group participation type things – Limbo, Hokey Pokey, etc. Stage 1 Sound stated that they will read the crowd and see their reaction to such activities.

            · Hy-Vee – Betsy contacted Hy-Vee and ordered the following:

            16 (6-pack) Dr. Pepper                        16 (6-pack) Mt. Dew

            12 (6-pack) Pepsi                                8 (6-pack)  Diet Pepsi

            8 (6-pack) Sierra Mist                          10 (24-pack) Water    

            · Popcorn – Betsy called Bank Midwest and stated that we would like to purchase popcorn and flavoring from them. The Bank stated that they would make sure these products would be available for the dance.

- City Council

One or two individuals from the FAYC should attend the upcoming City Council meeting on Monday, March, 22 at 5:30 p.m. We will be updating them about the dance, t-shirt, and new member. Who would like to attend and represent the FAYC?

- Upcoming event

            Chaperones/Security

                        · Chaperones – The council will need to compile the council members list and vote on chaperones. The names of the chaperones will need to be written down and given to Betsy so she can send them a reminder.

                        · When will we ask our chaperones?   

                        • A couple are interested in chaperoning our dance. Are you interested in having them?

 

Movie

· What is on everyone’s list of movies? Let’s compile the list.

· Would we like to decide tonight?

· Who is going to be in charge of calling the video store to see if they can hold this movie for us?

· Who is going to be in charge of getting these movies?

 

            Advertising/Posters/Decorations

                        · Flyers on cars? Betsy can go to the schools and place these on cars. Schools that approve this:

                        Fairmont, Martin Luther, & Granada

                        · Suckers – When would you like to distribute them? A date close to the dance would be best.

                        What doors are we going to stand at? Time?

                        · Radio – Jon  (KFMC) & Betsy (KEEZ 99.1) report

                        · Local Television Station? School TV Station?

                        · Let’s get started making poster, signs, etc. Betsy can keep all of this in her office until we are                          ready to put it in the schools.

            Door Prizes

                        · Movie tickets – Jon

                        · Hair Etc. Gift Certificates – Tyler

                        · Perkins & Shopko – Betsy

            Other Items at the Dance

                        • FAYC Applications and Brochures – Would you like to have these available?

                        • Comment Box – Comments for what, the FAYC activities, etc?

6. Other Business

            These topics will be discussed at later meetings. Be thinking about the following:

          -Fundraisers      - Volunteer Activities      - Next Activity      - Goals/Items for next year

 

7. Next Meeting Dates

We will have a meeting every Monday, same time and place, until the date of the dance. However, there will be no FAYC meeting on March 15 due to a school related activity that evening.
