Fairmont Area Youth Council

Minutes from April 18, 2006 Meeting

 

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers
  2. Excused absence – Ashlee (work), Ryan (?), Abbey (Track)
  3. Minutes from the April 3rd meeting were passed
  4. Old Business
    1. KBD  - April 5, 2006

-          Everyone thought everything went well

-          Get started earlier planning project so everything is not last minute

    1. Service Projects

-          May

1.         May basket for Police Dept. in the county that are represented on the Youth Council

a.       Trimont, Welcome, & Fairmont

b.       Amber & Chelsey to meet with Betsy regarding supplies

2.       Plant a Tree

a.       Betsy is involved in an organization that will be hosting this project, however the youth council was asked to partake in this event

b.       More information will be disbursed at our next meeting

-          Ideas for activities and service projects the council could be involved in

1.         Ricky – Candy Toss

2.       Ricky – MS Walk

3.      Ricky – Donation Project of some kind

4.       Amber - Help Clean up the Lake Shore

5.      Humane Society

6.      City wide Clean-up – Betsy will have more information at the next meeting on how the council can become involved with this project.

-          Aquatic Park Teen Night – we will discuss this more at the next meeting on how the council can become involved and get the word out.

    1. City Council Meeting Schedule

-          April 10 @ 5:30 p.m.: Amber & Ricky reported on the topics of discussion at this meeting. They stated the major topic of discussion that evening dealt with the effects of the major rainfall/rain damage in certain areas of the community.

-          April 24 @ 5:30 p.m.: Jesse & Ryan

-          May 8 @ 5:30 p.m.: Nathan to check his schedule and get back to me

-          May 22 @ 5:30 p.m.: Savanna

    1. Jesse, Savannah, Styles, and Amber (?) to help Teen Court with their grant requirements this Saturday at the Humane Society from 10:00 – Noon.
    2. Next Meeting Date: May 1, 2006 @ 7:00 p.m.

a.       Council will begin working on budget for the coming year and projects that they want to complete

b.       Council will discuss the upcoming Aquatic Park teen Night and partnering with them to host a youth event. Possibly discuss prizes, etc.

c.       Before the next meeting, please think about a project you would like to see the youth council complete/become involved in
