Minutes from September 18, 2006 Meeting

 

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

 

  1. Present  - Amber, Chelsey, Savanna, Nathan, Jesse, Caleb, & Styles
    1. Excused Absence: Nathan (1), Amber (1), Chelsey (1), Ashlee (1), Abbey (1)
    2. Unexcused Absence: Ashlee (1)

 

  1. Minutes were passed from the 9-12-06 meeting

 

  1. Savanna updated council on the Humane Society service project. Everything went great.

 

  1. New Members Meeting – Sept 18 @ 7:00 p.m. – was to take place this evening. No new individuals attended the meeting. Council members brainstormed ideas to get people on board: pizza party with applications and info on FAYC, get a prize if you attend the meeting/bring a friend/complete a job you were asked to do, have applications at dances.

 

  1. Red Ribbon Week
    1. Savanna will create posters for this week: Deadline: Oct 2
    2. Jesse got FHS approval for ribbons on antennas & trees and also for the bracelets
    3. Chelsey will see MCW approval for bracelets, ribbons on trees/cars, posters, and school announcement.  Deadline to inform Betsy: Friday, Sept 22
    4. Savanna and Betsy will work on a pledge board: Deadline for ideas: Oct 2      Project Deadline: Oct 16
    5. Council tabled conducting a dance at end of RRW to the next meeting
    6. Betsy will put together some announcements/statistics to be read at the schools Deadline for review: Oct 2  Project Deadline: Oct 16
    7. Other Red Ribbon Week topics to be discussed at 10-2-06 meeting

 

  1. Other
    1. Styles and Caleb will work on a commercial/announcement that we may air on channel 13. Betsy will check into this with the City IT Director.
    2. Council would like to have bi-weekly announcements at the schools advertising the upcoming meeting dates and times.
    3. Council tabled partnering with Ryan from KSUM/KFMC regarding an upcoming dance he would like us to get involved in. (refreshments, hanging up posters, distributing signs, etc.)

 

  1. City Council Meeting Schedule
    1. Savanna may be able to attend meeting on 9-25-06. Betsy will call to confirm
    2. Council tabled the schedule until the next meeting

 

  1. Schedule of Events
    1. October 2 @ 7:00 p.m.
    2. October 16 @ 7:00 p.m.

-          Please bring an item for the Humane Society. We are partnering with another organization for our October service project, which consists of purchasing items/bringing needed items for the shelter. We will also place this info on channel 13, asking those interested in donating items to drop them off at City Hall between 7 and 8 on the 16. Jesse will drop off the items at the Shelter either Tuesday or Thursday.
