Fairmont Area Youth Council

Minutes from September 2, 2008 Meeting

 

  1. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. at the Fairmont City Hall Council Chambers

     

  1. Councilmember Sanden, Shelton, Goraczkowski, Brooks, Grieschar, and Davison were present (Councilmember Johnson was absent)        

 

  1. Council approved minutes from the August 21, 2008 meeting

 

  1. Open Discussion

 

    1. Councilmember Grieschar asked Betsy to research Drive in Movies details
    2. Betsy encourages councilmembers to participate in the upcoming Mini Youth Summit on Sept 17 from 1-5 p.m. at the Christian Church in Fairmont. Interested individuals should contact Jenny Schweiger.

 

  1. Old Business

            a.   November 7th dance from 8-11:30 p.m. @ KC Hall    DJ: Stage 1 Sound

-     Council approved selling cans of pop and bottles of water

-     Council voted to reduce snacks and decide on snacks at next meeting

-     Admission charge: $4.00 or $3.00 with two food donations

 

 

6.      New Business

    1. Red Ribbon Week

-          Council voted to address FHS students with a daily announcement (Casey), tie ribbons around school yard trees (all), place ribbons on school lockers (all), and possibly hang posters/bulletin boards.

-          Council tabled posters and bulletin boards until next meeting

  

  1. Other Business

a.   City Council: Youth Council decided to update the City Council on a quarterly basis

 

  1. Next meeting dates:  Tuesday, September 9, 2008 @ 6:30 p.m. & Monday, October 13 @ 6:30 p.m.
