Fairmont Area Youth Council

Minutes from January 3, 2005 Meeting

 

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

 

  1. Kendra, Jon, Kelsey, Justa, & Kimbra (arrived later) were present

Tom, Tyler, & Ashlee – excused absence

 

  1. Minutes from December 15th meeting were passed

 

  1. Service Projects

- Council members will pick-up supplies to make Valentine decorations for Lakeview on Monday, January 17 @ Fairmont City Hall. Make some at home and bring them to the meeting that evening.

- Jon will call Dave Smith about the Fruitcake Follies, a time slot of where the FAYC can be present, and what the FAYC can do. Jon will report his findings at the 1-17-05 meeting

- Kendra & Kelsey will speak at the Fairmont Medical Center ClubMed on February 14.

- A motion was made to table speaking to Lakeview Volunteers at our next meeting

- Council approved working on an article(s) for the Fairmont Sentinel.

 

  1. Youth Activity – March 18

- Council approved Jon contacting Michael Burgraff and checking out the availability of the Opera House. Approximate time 7/8:00 – 12:00

 

  1. Funding

- Betsy will drop off information for the pizza sales at school. Remember each council member is to sell AT LEAST 30 pizzas. Pizza info and money must be turned in no later than Tuesday, Jan. 25 @ 4:30.

- Council will make pizzas in the morning of Feb 5 and delivery them that afternoon.

 

  1. Bullying

- Council members are to gather information on how to prevent this in the schools and bring it to the next meeting.

 

  1. Other Business

- Council will be participating in the Kick Butts Day in April – tabled to next meeting

- Kimbra & Tyler are speaking tomorrow at the Jr. High Student Council Meeting

- Council approved February’s meeting schedule for Feb. 7 @ 4:00 p.m. & the 21 at 7:00 p.m.

 

  1. Next Meeting –January 17 @ 7:00 p.m. – same place.

 

  1. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Everyone stayed after to stuff envelopes.
