Fairmont Area Youth Council

Minutes from January 31, 2005 Meeting

 

  1. The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers

 

  1. Kimbra, Jon, Justa, Kelsey, Kendra, Ashlee & guest – present

Tyler & Tom – absent

More than 3 unexcused absences for Tyler. Council voted to dismiss Tyler from the FAYC based on lack of attendance/participation.

 

  1. Minutes from January 17th meeting were passed

 

  1. Service Projects

- Council members signed up to help with Fruitcake Follies on Sat. Feb. 19. Betsy will give more info on the location as the date gets closer.

 

  1. Membership/Community Awareness

- Jon & Kimbra will speak to Teen Court – Betsy will give more info

- Kendra & Kelsey will speak to FMC Club Med

- Sentinel Article – Each council member is to write their own article and bring it to the next meeting where they all will be compiled.

 

  1. Youth Activity – Friday, March 18 8:00 p.m. – Midnight

- Council unanimously agreed to host event at Knights of Columbus facility. Justa will check into it further and see if we can get into the facility at 6:00, have the activity 8-Midnight, and see if we can sell pizza/pop/etc.

- DJ will be tabled to the next meeting.

            - Ashlee will talk to Jesse

            - Kimbra will talk to Jeff

            - Jon will talk to other

- Admission into the dance will be $3.00 per person

-Jon & Justa will check out the chaperone # - tabled to next meeting

- Advertising – schools, newspaper (article/advertisement) pizza flyers, radio, etc.

- Betsy will report on other business donut sales at the next meeting

 

  1. Other Business

- Council members filled in calendar till May of who would be representing the Youth Council at the City Council meetings

- Bullying was dropped

- Kick Butts Day – Council members will receive info on three activities that have been School approved.

(52 Ohio, Skits, Bulletin Board)

- Membership – We all need to try to get members – especially some younger ones to represent all age groups. Try for at least 5.

- We will discuss grants at the next meeting.

 

  1. Next Meeting –Feb 7 @ 4:30 p.m. – same place. Will have cupcakes/pop
