Fairmont Area Youth Council

Minutes from November 1, 2004 Meeting

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

 

  1. Jon, Tom, Kendra, & Tyler were present.
    Kimbra excused absence

 

  1. Minutes from the October 25th  meeting were passed

 

  1. Service Projects

- Kendra and Tom presented 5 ideas for service projects for the council

- The council approved bell ringing for November 22 from 6:00 – 8:00. Tom will contact  Marge Krugler and set this up. Sign-up for bell ringing will be at the next meeting.

- The council approved December’s service project as a play for the Stepping Stones Area Learning Center on December 6 @ 3:30p.m.(tentative). Betsy will make the contact.

- The council approved participation in 1 service project a month.

 

  1. Survey

- The survey will be proofed and sent to the school for approval before the next meeting.

 

  1. Memberships

- Tyler & Kimbra will present ideas on gaining additional members and making the community more aware of the FAYC at the next meeting.

 

  1. Youth Activity/Funding

- The council stuffed flyer and information for the area schools

- The council stuffed donation letters for area businesses and organizations
- The council dismissed sucker selling at the schools during the sporting events. The council passed the pizza fundraiser. More information will be handed out at the next meeting. The council will also look at tentative dates to sell, locations to make the pizzas, and overall pizza preparations.

 

  1. Other Business

- Jon and Kendra will give and update to the city council on Monday December 13. Betsy

 

  1. Next Meeting – The next meeting will be on November 15 @ 7:00 p.m. The council will have pizza and pop and Officer Bleese will be our guest speaker. He will discuss the CounterAct program and how the FAYC can get involved.

 

  1. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. and the council members stuffed envelopes (8:20)
