Wastewater Operator
Starting Wage Range: $35.74 – $45.23/hour | Application Deadline: April 26, 2024
The City of Fairmont is looking for a Wastewater Operator to operate wastewater treatment facilities and systems, including monitoring and operating equipment, collecting samples, and recording statistical data of samples collected. The wastewater operator will be part of renovating the wastewater plant and establishing new procedures for the operation and maintenance of the facility and the class A certified lab. The selected candidate should be a motivated, self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications for this position include the possession of a Class C Wastewater Operator’s license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire; two years experience in wastewater, a two-year vocational college degree, and a Class B Wastewater Operator license are preferred

Water Mechanic
Starting Wage Range: $35.74 – $45.23/hour | Application Deadline: May 17, 2024
The City of Fairmont is seeking a Water Mechanic who will work under the Water Superintendent. The Water Mechanic is responsible for maintaining equipment at the water treatment plant, maintaining water system infrastructure, assisting in gathering data, performing tests, assisting other City Departments, and performing other related functions as assigned or apparent.
Qualifications for this position include the possession of a Class D Water Supply Operator’s license or the ability to obtain one within 1 year of hire; two years’ vocational college degree in Water Treatment, two years working within a municipal water department, and/or a C Water License or Higher is preferred. This position also requires an MN Class B Commercial CDL and to live within a 30-minute drive under normal conditions from the corporate limits of Fairmont within the 1 year of appointment.

Seasonal Lifeguards
Starting wage: $13.50/hour | Application Deadline: Open until filled
Do you enjoy the working outdoors? Want to do meaningful work that provides a safe place for community residents and visitors to have fun? Then apply to be a lifeguard at the Fairmont Aquatic Park! Lifeguards help supervise pool patrons and activities to ensure a safe and fun environment for all participants.
Lifeguards are responsible for the care and safety of all pool patrons while enforcing pool safety policies and procedures • They recognize and respond to pool emergencies and administer care as needed and trained • Lifeguards oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of locker rooms, pool areas, and facility equipment • Lifeguards are well versed and perform other duties as necessary.
Lifeguards must be 15 years of age or older, possessing certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR or the ability to obtain prior to working • Lifeguards are knowledgeable and are at at expressing directions, demonstrating skills, and communicating with patrons and co-workers •Lifeguards promote a fun and positive atmosphere for all the guests who visit the facility. • Lifeguards are flexible with work hours and complete job tasks as assigned • Lifeguards are AMAZING!!!
