Fairmont Public Utilities Water Department

The City of Fairmont operates a surface water system with lime soda softening. The storage capacity is 4,300,000 gallons with pumping capacity of 3,000 gpm. Total hardness of tapwater is 85 - 100 ppm. The customer base consists of 3,925 residential, 476 commercial and 17 industrial.
